Building on previous webinars ‘The New Visitor: Who is the new visitor to the outdoors and how do we reach them?’ this webinar discussed the VSG ‘Risk Control Spectrum’ in light of increased visitor use and changing trends and behaviours in locations and terrains. Many members have witnessed over the COVID-19 period more visitors with minimal levels of self-reliance taking to the outdoors and visiting moderately and lightly developed, and even undeveloped terrains!

This poses a real challenge as the traditional ‘vertical’ correlation usually expected with the risk control spectrum has been thrown up in the air. The risk control spectrum assumes that this type of visitor will normally stick to highly developed sites where the level of management intervention is advanced. Join us as we explore whether this model needs reassessed moving forward – and what, if any adaptions should be made by landowners and land managers.

A recording of the webinar, breakout rooms and presentation slides can be found below.
